This Privacy Policy explains how Dark Matter Game Production ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and discloses personal and sensitive information from children aged 5 and above who use our educational mobile application ("App"). We are committed to safeguarding the privacy of young users in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and other applicable laws. Please review this policy carefully before allowing your child to use our App.

1. What Information We Collect

We do not collect any personal information from children. However, we may collect parental email addresses if provided for specific functions such as account management or customer support.

  • Parent’s Email Address: If provided, we may collect and store a parent’s email address for communication purposes related to app support, parental control, or updates. This information is stored securely and used only for the intended purpose.
  • Audio Permission (Speech-to-Text): Our app may request permission to access the device’s microphone for a speech-to-text feature. This feature is used to allow children to interact with the in-game bot through voice commands. No audio data is stored or transmitted outside of the device, and the audio is processed locally for immediate interaction.
  • Image Storage Permission: If the user chooses to save their drawing after completing a coloring activity, we will request access to the device's storage. The saved image will be stored locally on the device and will not be transmitted to our servers or shared with third parties. Users can manage their saved drawings directly from their device’s gallery or storage.
  • Non-Personal Information: We collect non-personal information to improve the App’s performance and user experience. This may include:
    • Device information (e.g., device type, operating system)
    • In-app usage data (e.g., frequency of use, activities completed)
    • Anonymous engagement metrics such as time spent in various sections of the App

2. How We Use the Information

We use collected parent email addresses (if provided) solely for communication related to parental oversight, customer support, and updates. Non-personal information, audio permissions, and image storage permissions are used to:

  • Provide, maintain, and enhance the App's educational features.
  • Personalize the educational experience for the child.
  • Allow the child to interact with the in-game bot through voice commands.
  • Enable users to save their artwork locally on the device.
  • Understand usage patterns to improve content and user engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with legal obligations.

We do not use any information for targeted advertising or marketing purposes.

3. Sharing of Information

We do not share any personal information collected from parents with third parties except in the following circumstances:

  • With parental consent: If authorized by the parent or legal guardian.
  • Service providers: We may share non-personal information (such as anonymized usage data) with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in maintaining and improving the App. These partners are bound by confidentiality agreements and only use the data for the intended purpose.
  • Legal compliance: We may disclose information to comply with legal obligations or in response to lawful requests.

4. Data Security

We take strong measures to protect any parental email addresses and non-personal information collected. These measures include encryption, secure data storage, and access control mechanisms. While we strive to protect the data we collect, no system is entirely secure, and we cannot guarantee the complete safety of user data.

To exercise these rights, please contact us at darkmattergamedev@gmail.com.

6. Retention and Deletion of Information

We retain parent email addresses for as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which they were provided, as permitted by law. Parents may request the deletion of their email address at any time by contacting us. Upon request, we will delete the information promptly, except where retention is required by law.
